Power Bi Templates

Templates are provided for use by a customer's PowerBi administrator to fine tune and deploy to their end users. If there are any issues with the template please contact BNS support.
SMS Archive database datetime field referenced for all sent message statistics
Reporting on the number of message parts sent is grouped by the column Main_PartA_SMSC_Msg_Accepted (Datetime).
This is the column which the other reports generated by the SMS platform services.
The datetime accepted date is the date and time accepted by the SMS Service provider. Therefore, their invoicing and reporting should match the figures reported by the SMS platform and by PowerBi.

Basic instructions get started with just PowerBi Desktop template
Note: the templates are designed for PowerBi administrators to deploy to their teams using enterprise deployment tools.
The template default is to load the data required into a local cache in PowerBi desktop.
- Open Power BI Desktop
- Open Power BI Desktop on your local computer.
- Navigate to the template and open it.
- Navigate to Data Source Settings
- From the top menu, select:
- Left menu bar or File → Options and settings → Data source settings.
- Select Data Source
- In the "Data source settings" window, select the data source you wish to update.
- Change Source Details
- Click "Change Source".
- A "SQL Server database" window will appear.
- Update Server and Database Information
- In the "Server" field, enter your server details.
- Example format: yourserver.ap-southeast-2.rds.amazonaws.com
- In the "Database" field, enter your database name.
- Confirm Changes
- Click "OK" to save and apply your new settings.
- Update Permissions (if necessary)
- If login details have changed, click "Edit Permissions".
- Update authentication details (username, password, etc.).
- Click "OK" to save changes.
- Refresh Data
- Close the "Data source settings" window.
- Click "Refresh" on the Power BI ribbon to verify and apply the changes.
- You may see a notice at the top saying that “There are pending changes in your queries that haven’t been applied” Select the option to Apply changes.
