Developer SMS text messaging broadcasting

Developers use internal SMTP email from their application to initiate a simple broadcast. 

Read the Developer and ISV overview documentation first.   

The SMS administrator establishes a business application profile in the SMS software platform which sets out various controls including:

• Transmission time windows as a default setting.  ie: at what times of the day will the gateway release SMS messages to the mobile networks. 
• Cost centre
• SMS Sender ID (can be alpha or mobile number)
• Reply email address for unsuccessful SMS
• Custom fields for reporting
• Incoming routing for 2 way using a mobile number as the sender ID

An application sending a simple broadcast is essentially the same as an end user. Refer to Send Simple SMS Broadcast from Outlook.

Email confirmations for successful SMS are never sent back to end users or application mailboxes.   

Email confirmations for unsuccessful SMS can be sent to:

• the an email address if setup in the business application profile or;
• if the application itself supplies a keyword in the message body of a simple broadcast (ReplyToEmailFailed).

A business application can:

• Request a CSV file detailing the results of a broadcast using the broadcast reference ID from a confirmation email from the SMS Server.

• Can read the currentarchive databases using the broadcast ID supplied in the initial confirmation for a broadcast request.
