How to send a SMS text message using Microsoft Outlook

End users send SMS from Outlook using simple addressing.   In the TO: field a user enters the mobile number of the recipient followed by a domain name.  The domain can be your brand name eg: BNS.SMS 

Other brand example could be: BHP.SMS    Suncorp.SMS etc.  

Ask your administrator for the domain name used in your organisation.   

Sending to an Australian mobile a user can enter the mobile number as shown above.  Assuming the SMS platform is deployed in Australia the system is configured to replace 0499869511 with 61499869511.   

To send international requires the the user to supply the country code followed by the mobile number. 

For example:  the UK is country code 44 so a user would send to   44771234567@bns.sms  (+44771234567@bns.sms) is also supported. 

The subject field is used to form the SMS text message.   

A confirmation of submission to the network is sent back to the user.  If delivery confirmations are provided by the SMS Service provider it will be delivered to the user's email by the SMS Gateway.
